The Science
What's proven, what's promising, and what you can check yourself.
Grounding gets oversold. So here's the honest version — no miracle claims, just what the physics actually says, what researchers are still studying, and the one part you can verify with your own hands.
The part that's simple physics
Your body carries a small electrical charge. So does the Earth — its surface holds a natural negative charge. For most of human history our skin was in near-constant contact with the ground, and that contact kept the two in balance. When your body touches a grounded surface, its ambient voltage drops toward the Earth's.
This isn't a belief — it's measurable. Touch a grounded conductive surface with a multimeter (or the test pen we include) and you can watch your body's voltage fall in real time. That electrical connection is settled science — basic physics: connect any conductor to the Earth and it equalises toward the Earth's electrical potential. Your body is a conductor, so the same thing happens to you.
What modern life changed
Rubber-soled shoes, insulated floors, and elevated beds are all recent inventions. Useful ones — but they also placed a non-conductive barrier between us and the ground that humans never had before. Indoor grounding products simply restore that direct, conductive path, without you having to walk barefoot outside.
What researchers are still studying
For more than two decades, scientists have explored how the body responds to grounding, across more than 20 peer-reviewed studies. The results are promising — but the studies are often small and early, so this is an active area of research, not settled medicine. Here's where the questions are pointed:
Sleep & the nervous system
Studies have looked at whether grounding overnight affects cortisol rhythm and heart-rate variability — markers linked to deep sleep and a calm, settled state.
Circulation
Researchers have examined the surface charge on red blood cells and how freely blood flows — looking at whether grounding influences either.
Recovery & inflammation
One theory researchers are exploring is whether contact with the Earth influences the body's charge balance and the pathways involved in inflammation and recovery. It's early and unproven — an open question, not a settled fact.
Where the science honestly stands
The electrical connection is proven — you can measure it yourself. The health effects are still being researched, with encouraging but not yet conclusive results. That's exactly why we don't make medical claims about what grounding will do for you.
What we can say is what people tell us: many report falling asleep faster, sleeping more deeply, and waking calmer. Whether that happens for you is something only you can find out — so we make it easy and risk-free to try.
Read the research yourself
We'd rather hand you the studies than ask you to take our word for it. These look at grounding as a general practice — they aren't studies of our cover, most are small, and several come from the same handful of researchers, so larger independent trials are still needed. But they're peer-reviewed and public. A place to start:

Safe by design
The cord connects only to your outlet's ground — never to live current. The live pins are non-conductive, and a 100 kΩ safety resistor is built into the cord as a second safeguard. You're connecting to your outlet's ground — the same protective earth connection your home's wiring is built around — not to its live power.
